Information for Speakers

PURPOSE
This page provides speakers with relevant information about presenting to the VPE/CTO Community of Practice.

SCHEDULE
Our day begins with lunch at 1:30, and you are invited to join us for lunch. It is a great informal way to get to know some of the members prior to beginning your presentation. There is also a host presentation from 1:30 until 2PM. The content is usually about the hosting company, and is entirely up to their discretion. We take a short break, and the featured presentation begins about 2:15, and lasts until about 4:00-4:15. The ending time is generally flexible, since the group is generally quite lively. You can expect discussion, and challenges (in a friendly way) to information that is not consistent with their experiences. In most cases, the presentation and subsequent discussion have concluded by 4:30. If you have special time restrictions, please let us know and we can work with your schedule.

FOCUS
Presentations should generally focus on best practices for engineering, or the specific technology (or technologies) you are expert in. The group does not expect to receive a sales or marketing pitch for your company or product, although one slide to talk about your company and/or the products/services it provides is acceptable. One or two slides that establish your credibility as someone knowledgeable in this area are also useful.

PROJECTOR
An InFocus (or similar) projector will be available. If you have any special requirements (like an overhead projector) please let us know prior to the meeting so we can be sure to have it available.

SLIDES
Handouts are not required. We do like to get a copy of the presentation slides in either Powerpoint or PDF format to put on our website for the members who were unable to attend, and for the future reference of those who were present. This is a "members only" portion of the site, so your materials will not be accessible to the general public.
